In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, we’ve compiled a list of funny Irish sayings. Read through each saying and its meaning and find out which one best describes your small business, or you as a business owner!
Story Horse?
The popular saying, “Story Horse?” is an abbreviated version of, “What’s the story, horse?” Which is a friendly way to ask your friend what’s going on. If you like to keep things light and casual, this saying just might be for you!
On Me Tod
“I’m on me tod” is a saying for someone who generally spends time alone. This one can work for so many entrepreneurs who put too much on their plate and avoid delegation. If you find yourself pulling the load all by yourself and working alone, this is for you!
Drinking Diesel
If you’re doing really well, it’s time to recognize that! When someone does well due to their own hard work, people will say that they are “drinking diesel.” This means that you have found success through your own doing, not because of dumb luck. We’re sure this describes most of you!
Two People Shorten the Road
This comes from one anecdote from Celtic folklore. In it, a father asks his son to “shorten their journey” to see the king, and refuses to continue on foot when the son doesn’t know how. The son asks his wife what to do. “Everyone knows that storytelling is the way to shorten a road,” she responds. If you allow people to help you out in your business to lighten your load, this one’s for you!
We hope you found this amusing and it added some fun to your St. Patrick’s Day!
