Every marketing activity has a dollar amount, right? So what if we told you that one of the most beneficial is actually email marketing??? It’s true! Study after study has shown that an average of $38 is earned for every $1 spent on email marketing. That’s a huge bang for your buck if you are a small business owner. So here are a few steps you can do today to ensure your email marketing game is on point.
- Ask for your customers’ email either when they book with you or when you leave an appointment. Let them know you want to confirm with them via email, or that you want to send them an email to remind them they need a check-up, tune-up, follow-up, etc. Each customer you bring in has the potential to stay on… but only if you keep in touch with them. If you don’t, 80% drop off and most of those go to your competitors next simply because they can’t remember your name or find your card. Email is GOLD for generating repeat business.
- Get a calendar together that outlines every major holiday and a few fun ones too! We’re talking Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, Memorial Day, 4th of July just to name a few. But that doesn’t take care of the extra little holidays that come up and are gone before we know it – National Donut Day, Tax Day (is that fun, actually?), Groundhog Day, etc. How cool would it be if you ran an email campaign on Tax Day that said “We are going to put a little more of that tax money you just lost in April back in your pocket. Save 25% off a service if you book today!” or something like that? Fun, memorable, helpful to your customer and a win all around.
- Tie your email marketing into your Facebook page to get additional engagement. These days you can upload a customer email list into Facebook and market to people there too! So if they get a gazillion emails every day and don’t get to yours they will see you on Facebook while they are checking up on the photos of what everyone’s eating for breakfast or how they feel about politics. You will be a bright spot in their day and you’ve just retargeted digitally which is a great way at landing repeat business!
These are just a few of the steps you can take to master your email marketing game and keep your schedule (and pockets) full year-round. Email marketing might not sound like a fun idea at first, but it’s definitely one of the most cost effective marketing activities (along with using FreshLime as your marketing and customer retention dashboard of course).
As always, if you don’t have time to tackle any of these items and more, FreshLime certainly does. Give us a call at 800-266-8960 and ask for Sarah and Kristin. Tell them you want the “Erin Special” :).
