We all want to have positive, productive days. This is especially important for a business owner, because if you aren’t positive and productive, your business won’t be either. There are lots of ways for a person to make sure they are in a positive mood upon waking up each morning, and to increase their effectiveness throughout the day. You’re busy, and you don’t have time for huge morning rituals, and trust me, I get it. However, there are a few things that you can do to start your day right each and every time.

Set & Affirm Goals for the Day

This doesn’t mean you have to have everything planned out and organized for the day upon waking up. Instead, when you first roll out of bed, remind yourself what your goals are for the day. What are the things you need to accomplish before you go to bed tonight? Don’t let this become something that stresses you out. Instead, treat it as a positive, “I can do this!” conversation with yourself. Remind yourself why you work so hard, and what great things will come from accomplishing your daily goals.

Meditate

No, you don’t have to sit on the floor with your legs crossed to do this. Instead, put away your electronics and focus on your breathing for a few minutes. Even spending just 3-5 minutes letting your mind have some peace and quiet each morning will really lead to a less stressful day. The best part is, you don’t even have to get out of bed for this (just be careful not to fall back asleep)! Give yourself a few minutes free of your cell phone, computer and your monotonous morning routines. Let your mind go to a place where you feel relaxed and then you can start to focus on the rest of your day more peacefully.

Wake Up 15 Minutes Earlier

15 minutes is the sweet spot where you still feel more productive just for getting up early, without having to really sacrifice much sleep. Set your alarm just 15 minutes earlier than you normally would, and watch your overall mood increase and let yourself feel more productive. We always hear that the best start to a day is waking up early. Though you won’t love it at the time, you’ll be happy you did so later in the day!

Open the Window

Opening up a window in your house will let in some light, which can help wake you up more and help you to feel more alert. The other positive to opening a window is that the light can actually help to uplift your mood! It’s true, sunshine and vitamin D are huge factors when it comes to having a positive mood throughout the day. The earlier you can add some light into your day, the better!

We all need some time to de-stress and get ready for the day we have ahead of us. These tips are some great ways to make sure you are as prepared as possible for your day. Think positive thoughts and you are good to go!
